Movie of the Week

DUNE

My rating: 4/5

Dune was one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year. This is a remake of the original Dune movie from 1984, which is an adaptation of the 1965 book by Frank Herbert. The movie, which is 2.5 hours long starring Timothee Chalamet, is about a conflict in space, among many dynasties. Personally I enjoyed the movie. The visuals were absolutely beautiful, the acting was amazing. However the movie is very long and confusing. Some very well worded ways I’ve heard it described are, “Dune was like a 2.5 hour long trailer for Dune 2,” and, “Dune, 2.5 hours of a mom and her son mumbling about space politics with a few perfume commercials starring Zendaya.” Both of these are very true, but it leads me to be even more excited for Dune 2 which will hopefully be released sometime…

WELCOME TO #TANKATUESDAY!

This week’s form is:

Here’s a quick review of the tanka prose form:

We typically write tanka prose in the 5-7-5-7-7 or s/l/s/l/l five-line syllabic structure.Tanka prose should contain a title. There is one basic requirement in writing tanka prose: one paragraph, and one tanka.

There are two basic forms in classic tanka prose: Preface (explanation) and the Poem Tale (episodic narration).Tanka prose does not rhyme.

Preface (explanation): This is where your prose quickly sets the scene, along with an accompanying tanka poem.

Poem Tale (episodic narration): The poem tale/episodic narration is where you share a more personal experience through your prose. In this type of tanka prose, your poem shares a beginning…

Christmasdoodles — — My Meals are on Wheels

This is one of the best damn cookie recipes I’ve ever published. I wanted a gingerbread-like cookie to share with you all but the problem is, I don’t like gingerbread, I don’t like molasses, and I don’t like powdered ginger but I love cinnamon! So I came up with this chewy, cinnamon-y cookie full of… Christmasdoodles […]
