DAILY ADDICTIONS: BIRTHDAY

NOVEMBER 9, 2019

Welcome to DAILY ADDICTIONS.

Each morning, I hope, you will find a new word posted to assist in stirring your creative juices.

Write a post using this word- or any twist the word brings to mind.

Your post can be fiction, nonfiction, biographical, or even poetry.

Often, providing a picture with your post allows the reader to delve into the recesses of mind a little easier. (If you post a picture, please be sure to credit the source.)

Once you have your post complete, create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. If that is not an option for you, add your post’s link in the comments section.

Be sure to check back to see what creative talents our fellow bloggers have churned-up with each daily prompt.

Thanks for visiting,

Roger

RDP SATURDAY: PUNCH

Hello everyone!

Continuing from last Saturday, I bring you another word from Hindi which entered the English vocabulary during the days of the British Raj.

The English word punch originates from ‘paanch’ in Hindi, meaning ‘five’, because of the five ingredients used in it – spirit/soda, sugar, lemon, water and tea/spices. The drink was brought to England from India by the sailors and employees of the East India Company.

So the prompt for 9th Nov, 2019 is “Punch”! Create a post inspired by the prompt – poetry, prose, photo, wherever the prompt takes you. (You need not stick to this meaning of punch.)

Don’t forget to use “Ragtag Daily Prompt” , “RDP” , and “Punch” as tags. If you are sharing a picture, add “photo”. You can pingback your post or leave a link in the comment box. While you are at it, please show some love to fellow bloggers.

This, That, and The Other

FOWCWelcome to November 9, 2019 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). It’s designed to fill the void after WordPress bailed on its daily one-word prompt.

I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (US).

Today’s word is “youth.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments.

The issue with pingbacks not showing up seems to have been resolved, but you might check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

A Photo a Week Challenge: In the Neighborhood

nancy merrill photography

I realized that I haven’t taken many non-travel photos lately, so I stepped out my front door and took this picture this morning.

I really like my neighborhood. We have great neighbors, the area is relatively quiet, and there is a wonderful park with a walking trail at the end of our street. The elementary school is just behind the church on the corner, and kids are usually out playing after school when the weather is good. During the holidays, people deliver neighbor Christmas gifts, and the youth take one evening a couple of weeks before Christmas to deliver Christmas cards for anyone (you do have to address your own cards) to anyone in the neighborhood. People out walking or driving wave to each other, and regardless of your religious status (or lack thereof), everyone is welcome to come to the big neighborhood block party every September at the local…
